About Me

Hi, and welcome! This is my personal Git repository server, hosted at git.shibedrill.site.

Meet August

I'm August (she/they/it), a Rust programmer with a focus on systems engineering, operating systems, and cybersecurity. I'm interested in promoting favor towards open source software, fighting for digital privacy and against online censorship, spreading technology literacy, and keeping people well-informed of the benefits and risks technology poses- as well as how to utilize or minimize them.

I've written:

libpci-rs: A Rust port of libpci, which performs useful PCI enumeration features on macOS, Linux, Android, Windows, and various Unix flavors
oxidefetch: A simple and compact fetch program, which is significantly faster than fastfetch
shibe-bot: A silly Discord bot, which I use to mess with my friends on Discord
playerbot: A server status monitor solution, which monitors the uptime of several game servers
gila: A capability based microkernel, my most ambitious project thus far, inspired by other successful microkernel projects like seL4

I also do systems administration using Proxmox and pfSense, and run several game servers for my friends. I'm familiar with networking, processor architecture, cryptography, Rust, Bash, cybersecurity, Linux, and many many other topics- all self-taught. I occasionally write articles on my blog about topics that interest me.

My aim in life is to get a job either as a systems administrator, systems engineer, or a kernel developer, building robust, secure, and interesting solutions to computer problems.
